Along with the release of a new track and the accompanying official video,
we also get a timeframe for the upcoming album Hardscrabble: late 2012.

Suberb track and video. Looking forward to see what Benn does with the new genre he's exploring.
And this year already? Awesome.

To those who went to see one of his live shows: Did he play this track?

So fucking excited for this new album!

First off, I'd like to say that the new video/track is really awesome; I'm really feeling the "Burial" vibe he's laid down. That being said though, this might not be the best representation of Hardscrabble. If the show in NYC was anything to go by, then expect a lot more intense/spastic/face-melting stuff than "I Saw the Sky". There was one point in his setlist where he played a chill song with samples; it was probably "I Saw the Sky", in retrospect, but I was too excited at the time to properly recall what exactly it sounded like.

Can't wait for more info on Hardscrabble. Although the stress and anxiety about the possibilities of a "limited edition" are going to weigh heavy on my conscience (not to mention stomach lining).

Indeed, the new stuff will be more "face-melting" than I Saw the Sky. He played The Bridgeport Run and, like, 4 other similar songs in Kansas City. All of them crazy-go-nuts. And awesome.

This. All the way.

Now I can't help but think of Who Framed Roger Rabbit every time you guys mention 'face-melting'. Or Indiana Jones, for that matter.

On a more serious note, I was quite surprised when I first saw the album cover, seeing as it's a huge contrast to the older, darker and more 'serious' covers. I'm really excited to see how the change of tone is represented in the music as a whole.
I'd also love to see the photo the cover was based of.

I feel like this album is going to just be a bundle of fun. Benn's melodic, and serious music is unmatched, but I really love it when he cuts loose and just has a good time. This is what it was like at the show, during the Hardscrabble portion. You could just see Benn having the time of his life going apeshit with the music. This should be an album to remember!

Yeah, I spent longer studying the album cover than I'd like to admit.

Glad I wasn't the only one to notice that haha. It popped up and was like 'Damn I'm bright!' Music so far sounds excellent. I will not leave my computer today until I have acquired me a limited edition. That is a fact.

I'm sure you already know about "The Great Balloon Voyage". In addition to articles in various papers, Benn has now posted the story and got us some (unfortunately blurry) pictures from the camera.
