Post other musicians a la benn
i wanted to start this type of thread again, as i thought it was a good platform for recommendations. so i'll start off!

jon hopkins is worth checking out. i just finished listening to 'contact note' and it's like as if, maybe, benn during reunion was a little more ambient and wasn't being so melodic. i saw this guy live and he was fucking unbelievable - certainly not what he sounds like on album! or he just tunes the levels to be perfect for a club venue. live, this guy was HARD, playing intense glitch breaks industrial techno. he just put out an album on warp with brian eno, and is traditionally associated with ambient. i'll be checking out more of his stuff, maybe this is his one not-so-ambient album? his breaks dont have the complexity and sincerity benn gets to (not many people really do. benn's amen break in binedump is the greatest piece of musical discourse i've ever heard), but his instrumentation and style is pretty close.

also, random other recommendations as i've been getting a lot more into minimal/dubstep: darkstar, mount kimbie, actress

share the knowledge. share the wealth

Somebody over on what.cd recommended Jon Hopkins also. I downloaded his album Insides, but haven't listened to it yet. Interesting that he pops up over here as well.

his stuff is very varied. contact note was great, it prompted the rec. seven gulps of air was ok, and i didn't like opalescent. definitely a good musician though

Yeah Insides was definitely very ambient. Even when Benn goes for ambient there's still melody involved, but not too much on Insides. I don't normally listen to stuff like that so it was kinda meh. Oh well. Maybe I'll listen when I'm not at work or just grab another album like Contact Note

One guy that kinda reminded me of Benn was Ryan Noise on that recent Nophi compilation which I just listened to for the first time today. His song on that is easily my favorite on the entire disc, but I can't find shit else by him except this one track that sounds nothing like the one on Comp4. Even the Nophi site has no information. He is literally the only person they have no info on. Like... I'm kinda mad. There's no way this dude just popped up with this awesome song and just faded back into the darkness lol.

hi there, first post haha,
Worlds End Girlfriend,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtNntFUcar0
That song is one of my favorites, that album itself is amazing (in my opinion) Along with the Air Doll OST, which is much slower, but i suggest anyone to check out. They've also done collabs with Mono, and those are wonderful aswell.
With that, another good artist i think, who found me is Ruby My Dear, Hes more break core but the track "The Dreaming Tree" Is really good (Reminds me more of Venetian Snares) http://soundcloud.com/dearmyruby.
