Flash Project for The Flashbulb. Need help.
Hi, I have to work on an Adobe Flash project in my web design class in school, and the project theme is of my choice. Naturally, I chose something Flashbulb-oriented. I wanted a Flash consisting of a turntable and a spinning record, while various music made by Benn plays. When a segment changes, the needle will pick up and move, continuing on a different song segment.
The animations and everything I don't have a problem with, it's that I don't know what songs I should pick from. Benn has so much music that it's overwhelming to listen to all of it, although it's not a bad idea if I were to spend an entire weekend listening to it all. But, I digress.
I'm basically looking to make this "mix" five minutes in length, and I would like advice from you guys, as I have not heard everything Benn has ever made.
My hope is for each song segment to be approx~ 5-20 seconds in length. I'm also clueless as to what I should start with as the intro piece, but I want the mix to flow with smooth music at first, then build up to Benn's well known break-core music and such, and then ending back into smooth. I really have no specific preference in what album, since I want this to cover all aspects of Benn's styles of music.
I hope you guys can help me. Any advice on what segments from what songs and the order of these segments would be greatly appreciated.

The order would have to be something you come up with based off of the songs you select; we'd have to get too involved (IMHO) in order to do that. I do have some suggestions for song clips, though. I've made many ringtones of parts of Benn's songs. I've uploaded the 10 I currently have here.Other suggestions: 1. Burning Roses Falling from 3:42 onward. You've got the "rough" part of the song as well as the "smooth" end. Take your pick, or use both. 2. My New Red World at 1:58 or 2:18 or 2:38. 3. Green Walls/Blue Sheets at 1:43 or any of the points soon following. 4. Tomorrow Untrodden at any of the buildup/climax parts. Or even the piano outro. Hello, I'm Benn and We Are Alone in a City have very similar parts as well. 5. Every Two Days at 0:57 or 1:17. 6. Miles and Miles at 1:17 or 2:23. 7. Anything in Untitled Tapes. 8. Highway One at 0:17. 9. Warm Hands in Cold Fog at 0:46. 10. Our Furry Past Life at 0:51. 11. Coach Seats and Hux at 2:30. 12. Kirlian Shores at 0:18. And on and on. . . I'm basically just listing my favorite parts of songs. Try it yourself! Then make your selection, and then arrange them. I would love to see the finished product, by the way!

Well, I've got approx~ 2 and a 1/2 weeks to complete this, so the only thing that would be time consuming would be sifting through Benn's work, which I am actually looking forward to, and then blending them together. The animation will be easy.
Thanks again for the advice, now I have something to start on.
If I can find a radio or video interview of Benn, what do you think of the mix starting off with a segment of that, and then slowly fading off into the music?

I know there were at least several interviews that got posted on the old forums, in audio and text formats. Just use Google to search it. Here's one I found.

I finally finished it. I just have to figure out how to upload it.....
I have an audio file of the mix, and the .swf flash itself of the entire project. Credit rolls included >:3

I'm excited! If you're looking for hosting advice, a service called dropbox is a great and serious alternative for hosting/sharing/backing up all kinds of stuff, with 2 gigs of free hosting. Is the flash interactive in any way, or does it play like a movie? If it does, couldn't you export it as a movie and upload to youtube?

I'd love to see it. As an alternative to Dropbox, I could host the project on my personal server if you'd like.
In any case, I'm really looking forward to seeing it.

There's a start button and a replay button, and that's it in terms of interactivity.

I got everything set up and now here's the flash. Thanks for the help again, Cloud. Picking the songs was hard, but in the end I was happy about it! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/31480680/Turntable.swf

No problem. It turned out nicely. I'm simultaneously happy and bashful about being explicitly mentioned in the credits.
